· Theme: it is the main idea or view which are showcased in the literature work and are found to be depicted either directly or indirectly. It is that idea, around which all the confounding factors revolve in that piece of work. It can be rage, solitude, love etc.

· Setting: it is that type of generic conventions which constitutes the build-up or background in which the plot or the storyline is set. The selection of the correct plot is characterised as imperative because such structured work results in the production of a well-organized piece of literature or art.

· Iconography: this is concerned with the categorization, elucidation, recognition and narration of the theme, symbols as well as visual context. This type of convention identifies the imaginations as well as the concepts, which are being used by the writers to set the theme and setting.

· Characters: the characters are considered to be the most important of all the generic conventions because it is them which gives life to the story and makes it meaningful. [JR3] It can be a human being, animated thing, an animal, a creature etc.
